Angel Sprankles (14U)

 

Coach Angel has been playing volleyball for 10 years for multiple clubs throughout San Diego County including Hard Rock, Epic and San Diego VBC.  During her high school years at Vista High, she played Libero and Outside Hitter for the JV and Varsity teams.  She continued her volleyball career at Palomar College in 2010 and played Defensive Specialist while working her degree in Business.  Angel plans on finishing her education at California State University, San Marcos where she will play her final two competitive years in college and obtain a degree in Accounting.  She has been an assistant 14U travel coach and head 13U local coach for North County Edge for the past two years and will be a 14U coach for the 2012 Season.  This is Angel's 3rd year with the club.

Aaron Simmons (15U)

 

Coach Aaron has been playing volleyball for 8 years including his high school years at Mission Hills High School and at the college level at Palomar.  While at Mission Hills, Aaron was selected as 1st Team All Valley League and 2nd Team All CIF as a senior playing Middle Blocker.  In college, he switched his position to Outside Hitter and in his final year, he played Libero.  He has coached for IVBALL, a beach volleyball club in Oceanside, Mission Hills High School as the JV coach and is currently the Freshmen girls' coach at Pacific Ridge School and JV boys' volleyball coach at Mission Hills.  He attends Palomar College and will be receiving his degree in Fire Technology to ultimately become a firefighter.  This will be Aaron's 1st year with the club.

Gabi McHugh (16U)
 
Coach Gabi has played volleyball for 7 years, beginning when she was in 8th Grade at Roosevelt Middle School. She has played for Hard Rock, SunWest, Epic and Team Complete Athlete (TCA) volleyball clubs. Gabi made the JV team in her Freshman year at Vista High and the Varsity team her remaining three years. She received a full athletic scholarship to Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas, and played there for two full seasons from 2005-2007. While attending TCU, Gabi coached numerous teams during summer camps. She has returned home to finish her education at Palomar College/CSUSM, majoring in Spanish.  With the love of the game still strong, Gabi has realized that while being passionate, determined and hard working are key elements to being a successful volleyball player and coach, having fun and a willingness to improve upon your skills are just as important.  This will be Coach Gabi's 4th year with Edge.
 
 

 

Stephanie Campbell  (16U)

 

Coach Stephanie has 8 years of volleyball experience as a player and 2 years as a coach. Making the JV team as a freshman at RBV in 2004, she transferred to Vista High where she played one year on JV and two years on Varsity. She was Team Captain in her senior year. Recognitions include San Diego County All-Academic team 06/07 & 07/08, North County All-Team Honorable Mention ('07), and Top Defensive Player in San Diego County ('07). Club experience ranges over 6 years, 4 of which playing at the Gold Division level for Hard Rock/Athletic Fusion Volleyball Club in Vista, CA. She has coached volleyball at St. Francis, Vista, Calvin Christian HS and is currently the JV Coach at Vista High School. Coach Stephanie has also coached at the Vista High School, Athletic Fusion and Off-Shore Volleyball Summer Clinics/Camps.  Currently attending California State University, San Marcos to become a Special Education Teacher, she wants to share her love of volleyball with fellow athletes.  This will be Coach Stephanie's 4th year with the club.

Ashley Stanley (14U)

 

Coach Ashley has played volleyball for 9 years. She has played for Hard Rock, Club Strictly and Temecula Valley (TVVC) volleyball clubs. Ashley played on varsity at Vista High School her junior and senior year. She is currently the starting setter at Palomar College where she attends to obtain an RN license for nursing. She hopes to finish her education at CSUSM where she plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Ashley has coached numerous teams in camps and clinics over the years and she also coached for a year at Temecula Valley Volleyball Club. Ashley has so much passion and enthusiasm for the game of volleyball and hopes to share it with other athletes. This will be Coach Ashley’s 3rd year with the club.

Courtney Brewer (16U)

 

Coach Courtney has been playing volleyball for 7 years, beginning when she played for the Rincon Middle School 6th grade team. Her first year of club volleyball was in the 8th grade at San Diego Volleyball Club, where she played the next four years until she played her last and final year at 951-Elite Volleyball Club. Courtney made the Varsity team her freshman year at Escondido High School. She was co-captain her senior year at Escondido High School and was also North County Times All-League Honorable Mention in 2007. Courtney has continued her education at Palomar College and is majoring in Business.   This will be Coach Courtney's 3rd year with the club.

Jennie Campbell (Nutritionist)

 

Coach Jennie has been playing volleyball for over 9 years, beginning her career at St. Francis of Assisi Parish School. Throughout her years of both school and club volleyball, she played every position from middle blocker to setter to even libero. This versatility gave her the opportunity to be selected for JV as a freshman, play at the varsity level for two and a half years, and become varsity captain her senior year during her years at Rancho Buena Vista High School. Jennie played for Club Strictly, Hard Rock, and Epic Volleyball Club and has coached camps and clinics for Hard Rock VBC, RBV, El Camino HS, and the city of Carlsbad. During college, Jennie played for Pierce College as a right side and defensive specialist. Jennie graduated from Cal State Northridge with a BA in Health Psychology in 2010. In 2008, she began working for North County Edge as the 14s coach and nutrition advisor. Her philosophy is that every player contributes to the success of the team both on and off the court.  This will be Coach Jennie's 2nd year with Edge.

Kassie Staup  (18)

 

Born in Omaha, NE, Kassie grew up playing volleyball for River City Juniors and continued on to play Division I volleyball as a middle blocker for Clemson University in South Carolina. Immediately following her college career, she began coaching for Nebraska Elite VBC back in Omaha, NE, where for two years she coached the 14-1’s and the 17-2’s. Additionally, before moving to Saint Louis, MO in 2008, Kassie coached the freshman team at Gross High School and assisted with their JV and Varsity teams. While in Saint Louis, she coached the 18-1’s for Team Saint Louis and was the middle's coach for the 2009 DIII National Champions, the Washington University Bears.

Kassie moved to San Diego in January of 2010, working as Vice President at US Bank and has also been helping with various volleyball camps and clinics.

Malia Campbell (Director)

 

Malia Campbell has been a volleyball player, coach, mom and club administrator for a combined 16 years.  She was a setter for the NBC-Burbank volleyball team in the co-ed adult league in the mid 80's.  Finding her passion again when her daughters became interested in the sport, Malia coached 5-8th grade girls volleyball at St. Francis in Vista.  She also volunteered as team mom and administrative assistant for Hard Rock/Athletic Fusion VBC and Prodigy VBC for a total of 8 years.  This will be Malia's 4th year with the club.

Nikki Holm (Co-Director)

 

Nikki Holm played setter and outside hitter for a small midwestern high school team and has continued to play in numerous adult leagues.  Having two daughters that also love the sport, she started coaching at the Escondido YMCA and Boys and Girls Club as a volunteer for their middle school teams.  She has two girls that love volleyball and are currently playing at Edge VB Club.  She has "team mom" experience as well and a true love for the sport!  Edge's "for the athlete" approach has really drawn them all in and she is excited to be helping with the local program as co-coordinator.  This is her 4th year with Edge as a mom-supporter and 2nd year as an Administrator.

Keith Nahlovsky  (Co-Director, Coaching Advisor)
 
Keith Nahlovsky played volleyball, tennis and raquetball while receiving his BA from the University of New Mexico. He played for the USVBA, USTA and USRA, providing him with the background he now uses to coach volleyball, teach golf, and scout for prospective college students in those sports. He has coached numerous levels of club volleyball at Sun Country, Epic, Prodigy and San Diego Volleyball Clubs. Keith is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and National Registry of Professional Golf Instructors.  Coach Keith is currently the Assistant Varsity Coach at Calvin Christian HS, and has been the Asst. Varsity and JV Coach at Mt. Carmel and Rancho Bernardo High Schools.  He is an ASEP (American Sport Education Program) and CAP I-certified coach.  This will be Coach Keith's 4th year with the club.
